Have students create a visual depiction of the current topic for an unplugged in-class activity.

  • Activity:

    • Tell students to split off into groups of 2 to 3 people.

    • Give students large sheets of paper and markers.

    • Tell students they have N minutes to complete this assignment and they can only use X words in their visual description.

      • Limiting the number of words provides an additional challenge.

      • You can use a kitchen timer or keep track of time.

    • When time is up, have the students present and explain their work to the rest of the class.

      • If using this activity in Computer Science Principles (CSP) course , have students identify the big ideas that relate to their topic from College Board’s 7 Big Ideas.

        • For example, the related Big Ideas could be the Internet, Global Impact, and Creativity.
