  • Given the easy access to Computer Science resources outside of the classroom, students may feel intimidated by those that are already knowledgeable of course content.
  • Tell students that learning is a process, and even though people may be at different stages in the process, everyone is going in the same direction.

Judge students’ participation along multiple dimensions, rather than prioritizing one dimension like accurate execution of procedures, to make assignments more accessible and encourage well-rounded engagement.
Help students see that they’re building basic understanding over the course of the semester that will turn into wider understanding since they may become frustrated with their perceived lack of progress.
