Use many forms of media in addition to lecturing when presenting new information to ensure the material is accessible to more students.

  • Other medias types can include videos, demonstrations, activities, and discussions.
    • This helps ensure that more students in your classroom understand the material.
  • Notes from the CS Teaching Tips Team:
    • 7% of postsecondary students who considered themselves to have a learning disability did not inform the school of their disability as reported on page 30 of the State of Learning Disabilities 2014.
      • Additionally, 52% of students with learning disabilities no longer identified themselves as having a disability within 2 years of leaving high school.
    • With so many students either not informing their school of their disability or not identifying as disabled, it’s very important to make new material as accessible as possible for students without special accommodations.
