Remember that each student has differing amounts of experience and skill sets when giving feedback.

  • This prevents students from feeling they’re not "smart" because they didn’t do well on a test other students thought was "a slam dunk."

Set aside class time to check in with students when they’re working on large (2-3+ weeks) group projects in order to catch them before they get derailed and create a project that doesn’t demonstrate assignment requirements.
Put more time into explaining content than you think is necessary because students may not retain all the material the first time you explain it.
Incorporate student presentations into your class as a form of assessment so that students develop their public speaking skills.
