Ask students with raised hands if they’ve discussed their question with their partner before helping them because this encourages students to teach each other and helps make sure more of the students’ questions get answered.
Create a list of questions pertaining to the daily lab material that focus on the concepts of lab exercises to ask students, individually or in groups, to gauge student’s understanding of the material.
Use humor in class that does not rely on race, gender, ability, class, etc. because those jokes are made at the expense of a diverse set of students and create a very unwelcome classroom environment.
