Balance students’ interest in immediate gratification (writing code) with preparation for the AP CS exam by having students work on and off the computer during every meeting.

  • One potential model for being on and off machines is as follows:
    • Be off the computer, doing kinesthetic activities to get them out of their chairs
    • Be on the computer (writing code and programs in Eclipse)
    • Be off the computer, writing syntactically correct code on paper without the help of an IDE
  • You can also take a few detours throughout the course to explore other languages or topics not covered on the AP exam.
