Student-Faculty Interaction

Use Doctopus on Google Docs to easily grade student projects.

Make sure that each student feels like an integral part of your classroom community.

Motivate your students by setting goals and connecting with them individually.

Emphasize the importance of planning and analyzing code to students with previous CS experience.

Help students find bugs by drawing or writing out what their code does at each step.

Start the process of creating a project together with the student.

If you discover something new in class, use the opportunity to show your students that learning opportunities are always present.

Individual attention from teachers is helpful for struggling students.

Don't worry about trying to match the modality of your instruction to students' "learning styles" since the importance of learning styles is a myth.

Call on all students equally to emphasize student equality and avoid creating a competitive environment. This prevents expert students from dominating during class since you’re not validating interruptive, show-offy behavior.
