Ask students how they are doing on assignments to keep them accountable and identify unproductive students when necessary.

  • If you have access to iClickers, consider polling your students during class to gauge how far into an assignment they are.

Pay attention to student questions to get a sense of what topics students are struggling with and adjust your lectures accordingly.
Start and end class with a short assessment by using daily warm-ups and exit slips; this will maximize instruction time and help you track student progress, plus it will validate the students’ efforts
Draw concept maps in class, in groups, or individually on the last day of each unit to ensure all students have developed a correct and helpful model of the material covered.
