Ask students how they are doing on assignments to keep them accountable and identify unproductive students when necessary.

  • If you have access to iClickers, consider polling your students during class to gauge how far into an assignment they are.

Have students write end-of-unit reflections to review material, monitor their learning, and integrate writing into your CS course.
Make all students say “I don’t understand” out loud, in front of the class to show them that nothing bad will happen to help them feel more comfortable saying something when they don’t understand something in the future.
