Have students try to solve problems in their everyday environments to inspire their creativity.

  • Ask teachers in your school for projects they need addressed and see if your students want to help.
    • For example coaches or PE teachers might appreciate having a sensor made to time foot races for track and field days.

Write code in class in real time. This way you’ll be forced to pace yourself, so students can better see and understand the process you’re going through.
Have students make a multiplication table to practice working with 2D arrays, nested loops, and abstraction using a data construct they’re already familiar with.
Have students instantiate personal hall pass objects when they wish to leave the classroom to help them learn that the values passed to a constructor have to match the number, type, and order of the arguments in the method signature.
