If students are expected to compile portfolios of their work, make sure to begin this process early in the course.
Have students do the most frustrating tasks in class, so that you can support them when they get stuck and prevent them from giving up or become overwhelmingly flustered.
Check your exam and homework questions to ensure they don’t rely on knowledge from outside of your course and aren’t phrased with excessively complex language to give students their best chance on each test.
